What is insulin resistance:
About 1 in 3 British adults have insulin resistance often without knowing it.
How does it happen?
After eating some foods, your blood sugar (glucose) rises. Glucose is the energy source for every cell in the body, however, glucose cannot be uptaken into the cells without the hormone insulin, which is produced by the pancreas. Due to poor diet and lifestyle, the glucose receptors in your cells may become resistant to insulin, which means they cannot absorb glucose to use it as energy. As a result your blood vessels are flooded with glucose.
